About me

I'm a retired pilot, happy to be finally able to be home and tend to my garden. I've got lots of grandchildren, a wife whom I've been married to for over 30 years, and I live just north of Chicago.

Current project

Planning to restore one of my spring bulb displays.

Type of gardener

perennial, bulbs, landscape

Favorite garden activity

Morning inspection of new blooms

garden wall

I moved plants all day. Pulled out the annuals and relocated some perennials. Noted that the Miss Ruby buddleia is doing fantastic. Has bloomed such a pretty shade of dark magenta all summer. It's the newest buddleia on the PW list. And it's going to be 40 degrees tonight! eeeek So glad I got this done today.

In all, I planted 5 Incrediball hydrangeas, 5 Invincibelle hydrangeas, ---didn't write the names to these yet--but they were..yew, lorapedalum, gallardia, and a bunch more that I got at the Garden Writer's Symposium. It truly is amazing how many new cultivars are coming out---

But some look a lot the same which leads me to the conclusion---everyone is taking cuttings from everyone else.

Thanks for joining the group bulbguy.
