About me

Along with my wife, designer Terri Stanley, we've been growing mediterranean-zone and hardy tropical species suited to the Pacific Northwest. After seven years, our nursery display gardens are up and fully grown, so we are branching a bit. Terri writes the garden column for the Bainbridge Review and I shoot garden photos of area gardens for magazine articles.

Current project

We have two climatic zones on our farm: Zone 7 in the lower field and Zone 8 around the house. We're now putting in three new beds in the warmer section, with lots of Australian and Chilean plants, as well as our favorite edible - olives, pineapple guava, and fig.

Terry, thanks for setting up a profile! Can't wait to get all of your unusual plants and great photos in the database! We had a great time seeing you both this weekend!

Cliff- I was having some problems upload a Kniphofia northii today to the plat section. When I got to the part where I uploaded the JPG and gave a name, description, and history - and then hit continue - I kept being sent back to the upload / description page, with a button for editing the description. After 5 tries I abandoned ship. Any thoughts. Also, I wanted to link our profile to our blog but was not immediately enlightened as to how...

Hey Terry! As luck would have it, we're upgrading the entire photo upload function this weekend, which is why you're having some trouble!! Don't despair, it should be stable next week! Also, we're coming out with professional profiles in the next 2 weeks, which will enable you to list your web site, link to your blog, have people become fans of the nursery, etc... super fun stuff on the way. We need to catch up! Lisa and I are packing up the kids and heading to Heronswood tomorrow (Sunday) for a Garden Conservancy Open House from 10-4p... Maybe we'll see you??!
