About me

I live with my husband in Birmingham, Mi. We have 1 son, (33yrs) who lives in Brooklyn,NY and works in Manhattan. I work at home for our business, Solid Creations,LLC. My line is "katykellydesigns"(DBA) and consists of all sorts of gifts: hand-dyed 100% silk scarves; pressed flowers arranged on fabric or paper and then matted and framed under glass - or made into greeting cards;

Current project

Current Project: ENJOY MY GARDEN! I sometimes forget to "stop and smell the roses" instead of obsessing over every little thing (or big - like Japanese Beetles Yuck!!)and take pics! I'm trying to sit on my glider in garden, listen to the water fountain John (husband)made for me, breathe in all the smells, and just appreciate all the colors or all the funny little ways this or that is growing in a certain direction or whatever! And then get up and go hunt for all the tiny little flowers that are hiding among the larger ones - the little surprises that spring up over night from the pkts of seeds I planted! They are sooooo cute and I like to pretend that the little faeries were busy during the night helping them blossom!(I cut a lot of them for pressing but still I can enjoy for awhile!...). I'm on my way out to sit and have my "2nd" cup of java!! "I'm 'making' the time to do it!" (I think I'll take my camera for AFTER I ENJOY!)

Type of gardener

I'm pretty much of a novice gardener. I started my 1st garden by using starts from my Mother, then applied the skills she taught me, now I have 3 other little gardens and frequent the little local plant store for help!

Favorite garden activity

"Favorite Activities"! "Painting my gardens with new colors each Spring!!"; planting and trying out new flowers and herbs; seeing the new little plants that sprout up from a 'variety seed pack' or seeds planted by the birds!
