About me

I'm still a very green at the tufts gardener, going into my 4th year of gardening in a neglected and pesticide riddled yard when we got it. Every year it's amazing how much things come back!

Current project

The front yard finally! Inspired by friend and fellow digger Flush Puppy we are finally going to convert the front yard into edible beds. I am so excited, although it is a lot of work coming down the pike, finally I won't be housing a full on dandelion factory any more.

Type of gardener

Fair weather- I totally poop out when it gets too hot.

Favorite garden activity

cutting flowers that came out of my own soil.

Hi, I was reading about your dandelion factory! I made a wonderful vinegar for salad using the leaves and roots. The blossoms make a wonderful oil when added to olive oil and placed in the sun for a few weeks.Strain it and use for massage and dry skin. Its liquid sunshine! Per my Herbal teacher it makes a good oil for chest massage since it helps move lymphatic fluids. It is thought that one of the causes of breast cancer is stagnant or blocked lymphatic drainage. I&#x27;m taking Herbal pharmacology again and dandelion is very nutritious, diuretic and aids the liver. <br/>

Can&#x27;t wait for you to keep us up on your edible beds! I&#x27;m doing edibles in 3 new vegetable raised beds we built this winter... so, we can all learn together...!
