About me
IslandVision member helping with the Urban Farming Network on Mercer island. New to urban farming, but beginning to grow vegetables. We had success last year with chard, parsley, cilantro, asparagus (1st year), onions, leeks, and chard. We got 5 chickens in the spring and now get about 4 eggs a day that we share with two neighbors. We do some canning in the summer of plums and grapes of our own, and order pears and peaches that we also can.
Current project
Developing a vision of sustainability for Mercer Island to show at the Leap for Green Fair April 24th. Adding 3 more vegetable beds to my garden to have tomatoes, potatoes, more of everything. Trying to finish the chicken coop project from last summer. This year want to try to plan the addition of a rainwater collection system to supply the garden and landscaping sumer of 2011.
Type of gardener
Mostly a cook, beginner in gardening.
Favorite garden activity
harvesting & cooking the stuff! Talking to the chickens who are great company.
