Current project

I have a new project. I am creating a book. I am combining my interest in succulents and my graphic design skills to revisit this project I started years ago. I am posting slides of my rough draft on flickr and google site. If your interested here are the two links. It will be light on text and mostly photographs of my personal collection. I do not currently plan on marketing it. It is just for fun. feel free to leave feedback http://www.flickr.com/photos/flyingbytheseatofmypants/sets/72157632818176674/ https://sites.google.com/site/haworthiabook/

have u ever tried plant lights?
my system is very straight forward and works real well...

its a metal rack ( it adjust better than the plastic ones )
large trays ( army surplus baking trays for cakes ) but regular cookie trays would work

aquarium gravel for controlling water over flows and for providing humidy when needed mostly winter time

and 4 foot shop lights two by two... I use plant lights mixed with aquarium salt water bulbs (online) for getting the closest and max coverage of the spectrum for my plants..

of coarse the normal shifting and moving around of plants as needed..

also the shelf unit i use is the type that adjust by inch.. 14"x48"x56"
i use the bottom or top for storage of pots etc.. as needed

again hope someone finds this of use.
i had a thought i would like to share to those that are newer to gardening than i.

I have been using my cake dome for my mini african violets... see pics.. I have been gardening for decades now, and this never accrued to me before... ok im slow... for the FIRST TIME i actually have a AF re-bloom... for me...

pic wont show this but i have kept a thin...layer of water on the plate part of the dome... covered the plants that hadn't bloomed ( or should say stopped blooming for a month) then I was shocked they started to re-bloom... as I said I have been gardening for decades and never had AF's re-bloom for me...

hope someone reads this and finds it of use...

Another fun way to use the site is to go to the plant database and upload plants-- you can upload the image, give a description, give details and then you will part of the network of the database. It's pretty cool...
