description for "Winter Squash and Pumpkins: Cucurbita moschata 'Yokohama'"

A very rare and interesting winter squash is 'Yokohama'. This variety features flat, deeply ribbed, green and tan marbled fruit. Beneath its rough exterior lies sweet tasting, orange flesh that is dry and finely grained. Enjoy roasted, grilled, fried or in soup. Maturity in 85-110 days. Edited by S. Derr

History:

Seeds originally collected in Japan and brought to US market in 1860.
