description for "Winter Squash and Pumpkins: Cucurbita maxima 'Galeux D'Eysines'"

Unique in appearance and taste is 'Galeux D'Eysines' winter squash. This French variety features salmon/peach colored skin dotted with brown colored warts. Despite its appearance, its sweet tasting orange flesh is described as being as "smooth as velvet". This odd looking fruit can reach up to 15 pounds at maturity and can be stored for up to six months. Enjoy this squash in soups and sauces. Maturity in 95-105 days. Edited by S. Derr
