description for "Winter Squash and Pumpkins: Cucurbita maxima 'Crown'"

An ideal squash for small gardens or limited space is 'Crown' winter squash. Growing on shorter vines that take up less space, their buff/tan colored fruit is flattened and slightly ribbed. At full maturity, these five pound fruit reveal a delicious tasting, deep orange colored flesh. Rivaling the best butternut for taste, it can be enjoyed roasted, fried or grilled. Maturity in 95-100 days. Edited by S. Derr
