description for "Summer Squash: Cucurbita pepo 'Tatume'"

Classified as both a summer and winter squash, is this rare variety known as 'Tatume.' Growing on vining plants, this squash is popular in Mexican and Southwestern cuisines. If grown as a summer squash, it can be harvested when green fruit is the size of a baseball. If left to mature, leave on vine until it matures to six to eight inches in diameter and skin has turned to a golden yellow. Crisp white flesh is tasty when grilled. Maturity in 45-50 days.
