description for "Summer Squash: Cucurbita pepo 'Gelber Englischer Custard'"

A very oddly named and odd looking summer squash is 'Gelber Englischer Custard.' This German variety is easily recognized by its lemon colored fruits and their flattened appearance. Despite originating in Germany, in the US it is more suitable to cooler climates, like the Pacific Northwest. This productive plant will need ample space and produce high yields over a longer season. Fruit can be enjoyed fresh, grilled or fried. Maturity in 50-60 days. Edited by S. Derr
