description for "Spinach: Tetragonia tetregonioides 'New Zealand'"

While not related to a true spinach, 'New Zealand' does taste like one. This English heirloom was first introduced in 1772. Planted as a perennial in warmer zones, its used as an annual in others. This variety does not bolt or turn bitter with age and does have a high Vitamin C content. Enjoy this in any salad or recipe calling for spinach. Maturity in 60 days. Edited by S. Derr

History:

Seeds originally collected in England in 1772
