description for "Cucumber: Cucumis sativus 'Sikkim'"

Enjoyed for its unique color and taste, is this odd looking cucumber named 'Sikkum'. Its large rust/red colored fruit can weigh several pounds and reach lengths of up to 8 inches. Discovered back in the mid 1800's, it can be enjoyed raw or cooked. Its mild flavor has a subtle hint of honeydew melon to it. Its vigorous growth habit means that it will need support. Maturity in 50-70 days. Edited by S. Derr
