description for "Cucumber: Cucumis sativus 'Chinese Yellow'"

A rare entry to the US market, is this unique Chinese Yellow Cucumber. Starting out with a mild flavor, it is recommended to harvest when young to capture its best taste. As its green fruit matures, it begins to change both in color and taste. Initially changing to an overall yellow color, at full maturity, its final appearance is a leathery orange/brown, with more of a bitter taste. It is widely used as a slicer or for pickling. Maturity in 50-70 days. Edited by S. Derr
