description for "Broccoli: Brassica rapa var. ruvo  'Rapini'"

If it looks like broccoli, is it broccoli? In this case, the answer is no. It may be in name but is definitely not in its texture and uses. While buds that resemble broccoli emerge, no heads will develop but its green leaves and stalks are edible. This confusing vegetable looks and tastes more like turnip greens. A descendent of wild herbs, it has a pungent flavor to its tops, reminiscent of mustard. Enjoy in salads, boiled or in soups. It is recommended to plant sparingly, as it matures quickly. Maturity in 50 days. Edited by S. Derr
