description for "Broccoli: Brassica oleracea italica 'Early Purple Sprouting'"

Cool weather is ideal for this old English Heirloom broccoli. Bred specifically for overwintering, it should planted in Fall and harvested in Spring. This colorful and flavorful variety is very frost hardy and diverse. Its colorful both in and out of the garden, as the leaves can be eaten in winter and the purple sprouts harvested in Spring. While it may be hard to find in the US market, it is grown extensively in Europe. Maturity in 60 days. Edited by S.Derr
