description for "Sunflowers: Helianthus annuus 'Endurance'"

Helianthus annuus 'Endurance' is from a spontaneous cross of the Israeli and Silver Leaf sunflowers. 'Endurance' produces up to 50 branches per plant, each ending in a cluster of 2-5 flowers. The long-lasting flowers have large, bright yellow petals and a small center. Makes an excellent cut flower. Sow 1 seed every two inches in the garden when all danger of frost has passed. For earlier blooms, start indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost date. Enrich soil with compost. Harvesting tips. For cut flowers pick at peak of bloom, or leave for the birds to enjoy. Planting depth: 1 inch. Days to germination: 5-10 days. 85-95 days to maturity.
