Spilanthes oleracea 'Para Cress' is a low growing, semi-tropical creeper reputed to enhance the immune system and to have anti-viral and anti-fungal attributes. With yellow-red flowers, 'Para Cress' spilanthes is ornamental as well as medicinal. Leaves cause numbing and tingling of the tongue. Can be sown indoors in flats 4-6 weeks before last spring frost, or direct seed into garden soil when all danger of frost has passed. Annual in temperate zones, perennial in the tropics. Grow well in Zones 9-10. During germination, keep entire seedbed evenly moist. Harvesting tips. Harvest leaves as needed. Planting depth: 1/8 inch. Days to germination: 10-14 days. 80 days to maturity.
