Malus domestica 'Ashmead's Kernel' is more than two centuries old. 'Ashmead's Kernel' is a golden brown russet raised by Dr. Ashmead, a Gloucester, England physician. Tart, aromatic, yellow flesh. Ripens in late October. May be kept in a cool, dark place with roots in the bag (out of the box and above 32 deg.) for 1 week. Must be kept moist.
