Spinacea oleracea 'America' was introduced in 1952, this variety has endured for its first-rate flavor. Thick, deep-green, savoy-leafed plant grows to a foot in width. 'America' Spinach was the slowest to bolt of a dozen varieties tested. Can be spring or fall sown, but does not overwinter well. Planting depth: .5-1 inch. Days to germination: 6-12 days. 45-55 days to maturity.
