Amaranthus hypochondriacus, 'Mercado'. An unusual, great tasting variety of Amaranth from southern Mexico. Prolific bearer of tan seeds on thick, green tops. Very lodge resistant. 'Mercado' is adaptable to northern gardens if started early. Planting depth: 1/8-1/4 inch. Days to germination: 3-7 days. 120-130 days to maturity.
