description for "Perennials: Liatris cylindracea"
Easy to grow, beautiful to look at and tolerant of poor soils. This beautiful Liatris variety is all of the above. It's lavender tufted blooms begin to emerge in mid Summer and continue to frost. These feathery flowers attract birds and butterflies, while its long linear leaves offset the blooms. It is tolerant of hot sun and poor soil types. While it is commonly found in prairies and open woodland areas, it can also be introduced to gardens. Hardy in zones 4-7. Edited by S. Derr
