description for "Amaryllis: Hippeastrum 'Piquant'"

Throw 'Piquant' into a pot and cook up something spicy! This alluring little amaryllis, on the menu since 1980, produces light cinnamon-red flowers with white stars. Though its proportions are small--the two stems stand just 14 inches tall--this large-flowering variety dishes out generous portions of blooms, 4 or 5 in all heaped on top of each stem. You'll never get your fill of the flowers of 'Piquant', so plan on planting several of the bulbs for lots of second helpings. -- edited by dtd pbcouchman
