Birthwort is a twining and herbaceous perennial. With its heart shaped leaves and tubular yellow flowers, its a very striking plant. Characteristically, it seeks light by ascending the stems of surrounding plants. Grown mainly for its unique foliage, if any parts of the plant happen to be ingested, they are poisonous.
