description for "Asparagus: Asparagus officinalis 'Jersey Knight'"
'Jersey Knight' asparagus is a supper veggie. Test plantings in New England, Mid-Atlantic, the Midwest, Canada and New Zealand have proven 'SuperMale' so superior to other asparagus it almost defies comparison. This asparagus resists rust, root rot, crown rot, and fusarium. It lives almost forever. It is early, extremely vigorous, and produces green spears 3/4 inch and larger in diameter. Succulent spears of Rutgers-developed and patented 'Jersey Knight' (a.k.a. 'SuperMale') grow in such abundance they out-produce other varieties as much as 248% to 500%! That's a five fold increase. Yields like that reduce the space you need for all the gourmet-quality asparagus you'll ever want. Plant 18 inches apart. -- edited by dtd pbcouchman
