description for "Columbine: Aquilegia 'Cardinal' (Songbird Series)"

Its compact habit makes 'Cardinal' an excellent choice for border and rock gardens. This prolific bloomer bears cheery red and white flowers in late spring and early summer. Finely textured foliage that combines into graceful clumps adds an airy effect to the garden. A rich, well-drained soil yields the best results. Aquilegia self-sows freely; plant a wide variety of plants and see what interesting natural hybrids may develop. These vigorous plants will bloom the second year. -- edited by dtd pbcouchman
