description for "Geraniums: Pelargonium 'Orange Appeal'"

The first true orange hybrid geranium grown from seed. Large fiery orange flower heads are produced freely insuring a blaze of dramatic color. Compact 10 to 12 inch plants have good basal branching. Fleuroselect Gold Medal Winner. Very few flowers can compete with the indispensable geranium for summer flower beds, hanging baskets and containers. Start seed indoors about 16 weeks before plants are to be moved outside. A perennial in warm enough climates; treated as an annual in most American gardens. Plant in well-drained soil in full sun. Once established for the season, it will tolerate temporary periods of drought. -- edited by dtd pbcouchman
