description for "Hedges: Forsythia x intermedia 'Lynwood Gold'"
'Lynwood Gold' Forsythia is a deciduous shrub with brilliant golden flowers that will herald spring in your garden in full sun or partial shade. Plant individually or 2 ft. apart for a spectacular hedge. Grows to 9 ft. tall but can be trimmed and kept at a shorter height. This cultivar is disease and insect resistant and tolerant of urban conditions. One of the easiest-to-grow and hardiest shrubs. --edited by dtd siegelgirl
History:
Michael Dirr says: "a branch sport of 'Spectabilis' that the owner of Lynwood garden in Northern Ireland noticed had flowers which were more open and better distributed along the stem. The brilliant yellow flowers are slightly lighter than 'Spectabilis'. Still one of the best and most reliable forsythia; not as loud as 'Beatrix Farrand', 'Karl Sax' and 'Spectabilis'; the flowering stems appear as yellow wands."
