description for "Dianthus: Dianthus 'Horatio'"

'Horatio' is a necessary addition to any replica of grandma's garden. This fragrant heirloom variety has large semi-double flowers, light pink in color with a darker maroon eye. With spent flowers removed, this variety will bloom all summer long. Plants thrive in sunny locations. Soil must drain well to avoid winter kill caused by root rot. Plants are mat forming and adapt well to rock gardens and walls as well as the edge of the perennial garden. Blooms until frost. -- edited by dtd pbcouchman
