description for "Trees and Shrubs: Fuchsia regia"

Fuchsia Regia, nearly vining, is an erect to climbing shrub that grows up to 20 feet tall and is easily maintained as a smaller shrub. The reddish stems carry dark, narrow and shiny foliage that is up to 6 inches long. The blooms are 1-2 inches long, narrow, and red outside and purple within. All Fuchsias enjoy moist, well drained soil and shelter from hot winds and hot afternoon sun. In harsh climates, grow in a greenhouse or treat as an annual. This species is semi-deciduous, mite resistant and native to Brazil. A great choice to go along a fence or wall or in a pot with a trellis.
