description for "Caladium: Caladium 'Florida Elise'"

'Florida Elise' caladium looks like Mother Nature took to it with a spatter brush. The clear pink that speckles the bright, clean green and white of this shade loving Southern favorite is most unusual! Great planted in bold masses and a good choice to brighten any deep shade, this caladium should be potted up early indoors, grown on at about 70 degrees and planted out in shade or semi-shade after all danger of spring frost has subsided. Keep in an evenly moist location until well established. In the very hot, dry weather of the deep south, this caladium benefits from extra deep watering and an occasional misting of the leaves. A tender bulb only hardy in zones 10-11. 'Florida Elise' may also be used in the conservatory or warm sun porch during the winter. Elsewhere, after frost arrives, dig, dry, and store the bulbs in a cool, dry, frost-free place. Origin: South America. -- edited by dtd pbcouchman
