description for "Geraniums: Pelargonium 'Old Rose'"

This large, classic variety emits a strong rose fragrance whenever the leaves are rubbed or brushed. 'Old Rose' geranium is a vigorous plant that can grow 3 feet tall if planted directly in the garden. Grown in a container, the plants remain smaller. The leaves are excellent additions to potpourris. Gardeners in northern zones should keep the tender perennials and desirable annual herbs indoors during the cold months. A perennial in warm enough climates; treated as an annual in most American gardens. Plant in well-drained soil in full sun. Once established for the season, it will tolerate temporary periods of drought. -- edited by dtd pbcouchman
