description for "Oregano: Lippia graveolens"
'Mexican Oregano' is actually a relative of Lemon Verbena, this grows as a small shrub, reaching 3-5 feet in one season in Zone 5. Much of the oregano used commercially in the U.S. is actually this one. North of Zone 8, it should be grown as a tender perennial. Gardeners in northern zones should keep the tender perennials and desirable annual herbs indoors during the cold months.
