description for "Apples: Malus domestica 'Big Red Delicious'"

'Big Red Delicious' apple is big, red, and delicious and this special strain of 'Red Delicious' tastes as good as it looks. Its beautiful appearance just begs you to bite into its scrumptious flavor. Fruit ripens in October. Two varieties are needed for pollination and trees yield an average of 10 bushels with some variation depending on the season and pollination. Trees will reach a height of 18-20 feet at maturity. Plant trees 25-35 feet apart. -- edited by dtd pbcouchman
