If you haven't had them fresh from a garden or farmer's market, you don't know what you are missing. It is thrilling to watch the stalks rise up and the little cabbage-like sprouts grow. They are not bitter when plucked from your own garden and cooked fresh. Grow in a cool season, planting in late summer/early fall for harvest in late winter/early spring. Harvest the sprouts when they are 3/4 in in diameter.
