The undulating movement of dappled shade can be created by using a variety of foliage plants. These versatile plants are available in small, medium, and large sizes, with a wide range of foliage types--from lancelike, glossy leaves to heart-shaped, softly puckered foliage. Some shade gardeners find that the smorgasbord of hosta varieties are enough to fill their shady spots.
