Introduction

Some plants are safer than others, but in a drought, most plants can be fair game for deer. Here you will find plants that are reasonably safe bets.

Most deer will avoid things that have a fuzzy or prickly texture or have a strong taste. However, in drought situations, deer become more open to munching on their less favored plants. In most landscapes, good bets include many herbs, lamb's ear, lantana and irises just to name a few.
