Get An Early Start
Start those cool weather crops for crispy veggies early!
Cool-weather crops, such as lettuces, broccoli, and cauliflower are willing to put up with early spring temperatures. Start seedlings indoors, then transplant them outside once the weather warms during the day. Root crops, such as potatoes and onions, can also be planted early (for some, it’s a tradition to plant potatoes on Good Friday).
With the return of the Victory Garden to the White House, kitchen gardening is back in vogue, and your local nurseries are getting in on the game… so if seed starting is intimidating, you can find a great selection of seedlings perfect for your climate.
