About water gardening:

By choosing various plants, animals, stones, fountains and containers, you can invent a garden that fits your personality: from ornamental to formal to reflective. So, dive in and start enjoying the soothing sounds and sights of your water garden.

Aquatic plants:

Blooming plants, such as water lilies and lotus, are spectacular. They offer color, fragrance, and extraordinary foliage. Hardy lilies (perennials) bloom throughout the summer, with each blossom lasting 3 to 4 days. They open in the morning and close in the afternoon. Night-blooming tropical lilies (annuals) open at dusk and remain open until late morning; day bloomers, the only flowers in shades of blue and purple, are open from about 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, bloom throughout the summer, and make great cut flowers. Oxygenating plants, such as anacharis, offer shelter for small or baby fish as well as help control algae growth (so your pond doesn’t turn into a green, slimy mess).

Fish and scavengers:

Fish add movement, life, and beauty to your water garden. These colorful creatures are more than just ornaments; they are essential to your aquatic ecosystem. Fish rid your water garden of pesky mosquito larvae and provide nutrients for plants. Pond scavengers, such as snails and tadpoles, and will help keep your water garden healthy and free of algae.
