SKATEBOARDING: A GOOD WAY TO GET YOUR KIDS OFF THE SCREEN

by Owen Pagac

We can deny the benefit of technology to our modern world; however, anything also comes with its drawbacks. Children nowadays spend most of their free time in front of the screen and they think video games, social media, and movies are much more interesting than outdoor activities.

In the article where SkateAdvisors suggests skateboarding as a good way to get the kids to exercise, some children are forced to stay at home because their parents are afraid that they can get into dangerous situations when taking part in those outdoor activities.

Gradually, this creates the habit of staying at home and lying on the couch all day, and kids are not interested in physical activities. Luckily, many parents have found a way to trigger the interest of their kids with a simple skateboard.

This sport is a good way to train both physical health and mental health; therefore, it is much more beneficial than using phones, tablets, or laptops all day. As a parent, you must wonder how you can get your kid out to join this sport. This post will show you how to encourage your children to take up this sport.

GET A GOOD SKATEBOARD FIRST

A kid can not skateboard without a proper skateboard; therefore, parents need to get the perfect skateboard that is both good in quality and has a nice appearance to attract their children. In case you don’t know how to pick a good skateboard for children, you can visit the buying guide from SkateAdvisors

ENCOURAGE THEM TO SKATEBOARD FREQUENTLY

Taking up skateboarding is not necessary to perform hard tricks or become a professional skater. Instead, you can encourage your children to skate to school regularly to build the habit of using the skateboard.

You can take them to a skate park where there are several kids with the same age group so that they can find someone who has the same interest to get started. Moreover, you can let them get familiar with skateboarding through some other relevant sports such as surfing or snowboarding.

BECOMING A SKATEBOARDING PARENT

Since some kids are not confident enough to join a skateboarding community, especially in a crowded space like a skate park. In this situation, parents can skate with them to instruct them on their first day of taking up this sport.

There is also a guide to becoming a skateboarding parent provided by SkateAdvisors on survivalistboards. Parents who want to take their kids for a ride definitely need to take a look at that guide.

However, the key thing why parents should skate with their kids is to ensure their safety. Skateboarding is well-known as an extreme sport that contains a lot of dangers and you can notice several accidents each year related to skateboarding activities.

To protect your kids from these dangerous situations, I suggest you let them learn about the safety guide from a professional skateboarding instructor to know which they should wear and bring in a skateboarding session.
