Herb Bread Sticks

These simple to make sticks are scrumptious snacks or appetizers. Everyone loves them and I usually end up doubling the recipe!

 

HERB BREAD STICKS

Garlic_and_shallots_allium_sativum_silver_rose-1.medium.detail

Chives_allium_schoenoprasum-1.large.detail

Parsley_petrosileneum_neapolitanum-1.large.detail

 

1 small loaf white bread, thinly sliced
1 large clove garlic, chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh chives
1 tablespoon fresh summer savory or sweet marjoram
1/2 cup butter, softened
4 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese
melted butter

STEP 1:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.


STEP 2:

  • Trim the crusts from the bread slices.Roll the bread slices flat with a rolling pin.

STEP 3:

  • Mash together the garlic, salt and pepper.
  • Add the herbs and blend in the butter.
  • Add cheese.
  • Spread each slice of bread with the herb-butter mixture and roll up tightly, securing with toothpicks.

STEP 4:

  • Place on a baking sheet seam side down.
  • Brush lightly with melted butter.
  • Bake 12 to 15 minutes until lightly browned, turning them several times while baking.
