Daylilies in Bouquets

by dig the dirt editor

A small tip to keep your beautiful daylilies looking crisp in a summer bouquet.

TO USE DAYLILIES IN BOUQUETS

Clip buds in the early morning and place them in the refrigerator.  Just before you need them in the bouquet, remove them from the refrigeration and place them in water.  They'll open- and last for just a day as they do in the garden.  'Stella de Oro' blooms all summer long.

Another good idea is to remove the orange or yellow pollen-coated anthers before bringing them in the house, or putting them in a bouquet.  The pollen can stain clothing, tablecloths and countertops very easily.
