Random Garden Thoughts

On the left side of the lamppost is a jatropha. This was once a small tree--it was destroyed by the Feb. freeze. This bed was hit particularly hard. We thought the jatropha was dead, but it came back in bush form. I am just thrilled that it is alive!

Random thoughts as I walked through my October garden.

The weather this week has been more on the warm side than blazing hot, and there is a slight breeze in the air.  As close to fall weather as we can hope for in a Florida October.  And perfect weather for critter activity.  The garden was swarming with life today!  As I took my usual walk through the garden, nothing especially exciting was going on, but I tried to capture some of my random thoughts with the camera.

Your Pine Borer bug solves a mystery for my daughter and I...we spotted one a few weeks ago and had no idea what it was...now we know!! Your butterflies are spectacular! And the bloom on the Willies Ti makes me want it even more! My Ti's produce a pinkish white bloom, but not nearly as pretty as this purple one!!

Glad your mystery was solved. Aren't Sculptured Pine Borers cool? They're so huge! I kept getting buzzed by a huge Cicada Killer yesterday as well but couldn't get a photo. Oh, well. Life would be boring without challenges. Glad you like the Willie's Ti bloom. I also think it's prettier than the other Ti's. Right now, this is my favorite.

I am very tempted to start a "bug hub" with all of these great pictures you are sharing!

Bugs and birds and frogs and lizards are a huge part of my garden! I enjoy watching them as much as my flowers. I can't go out and "collect" them at the nursery, though. I have to hope they choose to be here. Wait...some people DO buy bugs for their gardens. I never have though.
